Artistic Directors, Allison DeBona and Rex Tilton, are proud to announce the three choreographers working with our 2019 Choreographic Workshops dancers.
Emily Adams is a Principal Artist at Ballet West. She joined the second company in 2005 after graduating from Professional Children's School and the School of American Ballet in NYC. She joined the corps de ballet in 2007, was promoted to Demi-soloist in 2011, was promoted to Soloist in 2013, and was made a Principal dancer in 2015. Her performance highlights include Myrthe in Giselle, Princess Aurora, Lilac Fairy and Carabosse in The Sleeping Beauty, Queen of the Dryads in Don Quixote, Woman #2 in Forsythe's In the Middle, Somewhat Elevated, second principal woman in George Balanchine's Emeralds, principal woman in George Balanchine’s Diamonds, Soloist Woman in George Balanchine's Rubies, Principal Woman in George Balanchine's Square Dance, and roles in ballets by Jiri Kylian, Val Caniporali, and Nicolo Fonte. Her choreographic credits include But A Dream (2018), Homage (2015), Mixed Signals ( 2014), Forces at Play ( 2012), and Regarding Us (2011), all created for Ballet West's Innovations programs. As a student at the School of American Ballet, she created ballets for Student Choreographic Workshops 2003 and 2004, and participated in the Spring 2004 session of the New York Choreographic Institute.
quinn B wharton
Quinn Wharton Is a Director and Choreographer with a specialty in human movement. He was born in Seattle and raised in a yurt on Hawaii. He danced for the San Francisco Ballet and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. Quinn has choreographed and directed for such companies as the Bolshoi Ballet, The Joffrey Ballet, Rolex, Airbnb, and the San Francisco Ballet. He has lectured at Stanford and the University of Chicago.
Rex Tilton is Artistic Director of the artEmotion Summer Intensive as well as a Ballet West Principal Artist. He is a co-founder of the Choreographic Workshop in partnership with Ballet West Academy, alongside Allison DeBona.
