JUly 9-20TH 2018 (two weeks)

(Audition required)

"'I'm (Faculty) going to treat you like a professional so you dance like a professional.'  I think that pretty much sums up this program the best way."

-2017 Choreographic Workshop student and current Ballet West Trainee, Rainey Boyette.

artÉmotion Summer Intensive and Ballet West Academy are thrilled to continue the Choreographic Workshop offered at the Jessie Eccles Quinney Ballet Center. The Choreographic Workshop is specially designed to simulate a typical work day of a professional dancer.  Students will begin each day with a technique class. The remainder of the day is spent with one of three choreographers creating a world premiere work. The three pieces created will be performed on the Capitol Theatre stage on Friday, July 20th.  artÉmotion and Ballet West are very pleased to offer this unique opportunity. Students accepted into this program by audition will be considered by Ballet West Artistic Director, Adam Sklute, for the Ballet West Academy Trainee Program and Professional Training Division.  Therefore, acceptance into the Choreographic Workshop requires participation in the full Ballet West Summer Intensive. Last year, 14 dancers were invited to become Ballet West Trainees and two invited to the Professional Training Division from the Choreographic Workshop. Due to the highly selective nature of this program only 30 female and 15 male students will be accepted.
